Tiny Landscape Paintings, November 2011

Many people want to know, why do I paint on wood and not canvas? Wood seems like the obvious choice for me. The natural tone is already a beautiful 'under painting' to use. The organic nature of the wood enhances the outcome of the paintings, especially the landscapes. On many of my paintings I allow the grain to show through because the lines of the grain often flow so well with the lines of the earth. So I think, why not use something that already exists in nature.
